Personal limits
A limit works best when it is set before play.
Responsible play is a decision system: define the boundary, make it visible and decide in advance what will trigger a stop.
Build the stop before the start
A useful plan specifies a money limit, a time limit and a behavioural stop. The behavioural stop matters because a session can become harmful before the numeric limit is reached.
MoneyA fixed entertainment amount
No increases to chase a result.
TimeA visible end time
Use an alarm outside the game.
BehaviourA reason to stop early
Anger, secrecy, borrowing or loss of focus.
Signals that a pause is needed
- Thinking about recovering a specific loss.
- Hiding the time or amount spent.
- Borrowing, selling or delaying essentials to continue.
- Playing while distressed, intoxicated or unable to focus.
- Breaking a limit and immediately replacing it with a higher one.
Make the pause practical
Log out, remove saved payment methods, use available account limits or exclusion controls, and tell a trusted person what boundary has been set. If gambling is causing financial or emotional harm, seek qualified local support rather than trying to solve the harm through another session.
